INSTALLING TCP

The TCP pages are displayed via a webserver running on a computer within a local Wi-Fi network
(no internet connection is required for this)
The pages are controlled by an admin program tcp.exe running on the webserver

It is simplest (though not essential) if the webserver is running on the same computer as the scrutelle program

To install TCP you need first to Install and then Configure the Apache HTTP Server

Then install TCP from tcp-install.exe
This will create folders C:\scrutelle\tcp & C:\scrutelle\cgi
You need to configure Apache so that these folders are visible

and finally - You need to tell scrutelle where to find the TCP program - this is done in scrutelle SETTINGS

IP addresses should be used. Windows resolves names via the network neigborhood (Samba). This is not supported on tablets and smartphones.

This is a useful reference about DNS servers: www.howstuffworks.com/dns.htm

STOPPING AND STARTING THE APACHE SERVER

You will probably only want to run the Apache server on competition day. Here are 2 BAT files which can conveniently be stored in the apache folder

These scripts need to be run as Administrator

rem apache-stop.bat
cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\bin
httpd.exe -k stop
timeout 10

rem apache-start.bat
cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\bin
net stop w3svc
httpd.exe -k start
timeout 10
